THEATRE 101 is a program sponsored by The Clemson Little Theatre for kids who have been bitten by the theater bug — those who want to get a deeper understanding of live theatre. The program is open to students who are at least eleven years old and in the sixth through twelfth grades.
THEATRE 101 is dedicated to exposing students to all aspects of the theater and fostering their acting and technical skills. THEATRE 101 does not work toward an actual production. Rather, it develops students’ theater skills and provides a wide variety of experiences in stage presence, movement, projection, characterization, improvisation, make-up, costumes, props, scenery, lighting, and sound. Many lessons come by way of viewing and critiquing performances. Sharing the company of others with similar interests further enriches the experience and understanding.
THEATRE 101 has been put on hold for the Spring 2008, but it will be offered again in the Fall 2008, when Creative Director Vic Aviles will again bring theatre to life for interested young people.
Students can register for semesters beginning in September and in January. Meetings are held every two weeks, usually on Thursday evenings, at Cox Hall, next to the Pendleton Playhouse. Prices are $70 per session for CLT-member families and $80 per session otherwise. Applications are available at the link below and should be sent with payment to the CLT Office.
